Following a US$125 million (about $184 million) renovation, this 839-room hotel (hotel.quantas.com.au/alohilaniresort) was unveiled in 2018 with a decidedly modern aesthetic – think floor-to-ceiling windows and herringbone flooring in the lobby.  Rooms have minimalist leanings (neutral palette, no alarm clocks) but there’s plenty to keep you busy beyond your lodgings.  Head to level five for cabanas, day beds and a saltwater infinity pool; stay for the video art projected onto the hotel’s beach-facing tower while DJs spin tunes into the night.  Morimoto Asia and Momosan restaurants are perfect for casual-cool dining.
